Judit Hasznosi
(Budapest, Hungary)
(Budapest, Hungary)
music teacher and choral conductor
Graduated as grammar school singing teacher and choral conductor at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1977 and currently teaching at a primary and secondary school in Budapest. By the solfa technic of the Kodály method, the huge number of Hungarian folk songs, the simple instrumental games supporting the learning process, the unity of dance and movements might be a new kind of way to make music lovable. We shall combine in this workshop the music pedagogy heritage of Carl Orff with the world wide known method of Zoltán Kodály.

Ildikó Giegler
(Budapest, Hungary)
schoolmistress, folk dances and dance teacher
I was graduated in 1984 at the Pedagogical College of Budapest and in 1999 at the Hungarian College of Dance Arts. Currently I'm working at the Arts' School of the Vasas Arts Ensemble and at the Lajos Bárdos Elementary and Grammar School, mostly with 6-10 year old children.
Based on my experience folk dance education is a sector of arts' education where you can have a vast opportunity of young people's physical, spiritual and mental development. The kind of artistic activity contributes in a natural and multi-sided way to the enrichment of thepupils' culture..
During the course we shall learn children's folk games, etuds, short choreographies going from land to land within Hungary and the surrounding countries and this way I would like to provide the participants such tools that one can use during the everyday work back home.

Gábor Eötvös
(Budapest, Hungary)
(Budapest, Hungary)
jazz percussionist, piano player, singer and music teacher
I graduated first as professional percussionist, piano and singer performer in 1966 and later studied jazz percussion at the Béla Bartók Conservatory of Budapest (1978). I received my music teacher diploma at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in 1997. Currently I'm teaching at the Antal Molnár Music School in Budapest.
Still in the 90s I participated at an Orss course and later I started to adapt the Orff Schulwerk to Hungarian conditions (Kodály's children's sayingsm songs and folk songs) and I implement this method during my essions with kindergarten children's groups.
5. DOWN THE VISTULA RIVER
Using Polish songs, games and traditions in the Orff-Schulwerk

Malina Sarnowska
(Warsaw)
Malina Sarnowska - Polish violinist, music teacher and concert animator. Graduated from The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (speciality: violin, diploma with a distinction), in 2007 completed the Postgraduate University Course (so called Special Course) - Advanced Studies in Music and Dance Education - Orff Schulwerk - in the Orff Institut at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg. Member of the board of the Polish Carl Orff Association.
Description of the atelier: The goal is to show the unique elements of the Polish culture (folk songs and traditions, children games, well-known pieces of Polish music) in a more universal context, using Orff-Schulwerk principles. The collection of the examples will be gathered during a virtual journey down the Vistula river, starting from the mountain area, passing big cities - Cracow, Warsaw - and finishing by the Baltic Sea. Using elementary and elemental ways of accessing the music allows everybody - no matter what age - to become familiar with the foreign language and tunes. This repertory can be therefore used in a teaching work with children as „a cultural atraction" from the near-situated country.
ADDITIONAL EVENTS
An evening concert with a Hungarian vocal ensemble.
Excursions: Optional city tour to Budapest and Szentendre (artists' village) or to the picturesque Danube Bend.
